OUTFIT OF THE DAY: Celebrating Another Year Together

(WEARING: Top and skirt from Kohl's, Flats by Steve Madden, Sunglasses vintage)

This weekend was a very special weekend! My fiance and I celebrated our six year anniversary together. I took him to the amazing Huntington Library Tea Room; which serves tiny finger sandwiches and hor d'oeuvres, for brunch to celebrate. After brunch we sat under an old willow tree staring at the beautiful rose gardens and listened to beautiful music on Pandora.

DIY ArmCandy, Summers Hottest Trend

One of summer's hottest trends, ArmCandy! What is ArmCandy you ask? ArmCandy is the way you stack your bracelets on your wrists, some stack a lot and some stack only a few. I decided to do some DIY ArmCandy, this DIY is super easy to do and won't burn a hole through your wallet.

Materials you'll need:
Colorful string (can be any kind of string: rope, string, etc.)
Jewelry clasps
Any kind of beads (you can even use brass screw nuts for a more edgy look, but make sure they are brass  or stainless steel since it is skin safe)
Super Glue (to glue off the ends of the string so they do not fray)

How to make this amazing DIY ArmCandy:
You will need to cut three 25 inch pieces of string, tie on one of the clasps. Once you have tied on the clasp cut off any extra string and put a dot of super glue so the knot does not come undone. After you have tied and glued, braid down the string about 1 inch to 1.5 inches. Than you add the beads (I used between  10 to 20 beads) each side and keep braiding down. You can put a lot of beads or a few, remember this is YOUR DIY project. After you are done using all the beads you want braid another 1 inch to 1.5 inches down, tie on the last part of the clasp put a little glue on the knot and trim the extra string and you are DONE!

2012's Spring and Summer Must Have Nail Polish Colors

What girl doesn't love painting their nails?! I get so excited when it's that time of the week to switch my nails up from last weeks color to this weeks color! These are the top nail polish shades you should be rocking on your hands all summer long, here is how you should be wearing these colors great colors for Spring and Summer. Nude; mannequin nails make their return this spring, but this time around, the focus is on matching your skin tone, not making your nails look like a Barbie doll's. Pistachio; spring's iteration is pretty pistachio, look for polishes that have creamy undertones and lots of opacity — you want the color to really stand out on your nails. Pastels; think more along the lines of pistachio green and butter yellow - taking a fun, light-hearted, youthful trend and translating it into a more high-fashion look. Blue; different hues of blue — baby blue, turquoise, and navy — will be big this spring. It will definitely be a lasting trend seen into fall as well. Glitter; The glitter craze is continuing, but will be transforming into new variations — the latest versions are 3D holographics, but shiny shimmers still continue to rule. Tangerine; offbeat orange and retro mod brights straight out of the swinging '60s. Fuchsia; hot pink and fuchsia replace light pink as the go-to girly shade of the season. And last but not least Neon; this isn’t old-school 1980's neon, it's a grown-up, modern interpretation; the result of a neon mixed with pure white pigment to create a beautiful, pulled-back look. This is an evolution of neon — still bright and in the same color family, but more sophisticated and subdued. I will definitely be sporting some of these colors on my digits this summer, what is your favorite shade?

Top Ten SS 2012 Trends

The top ten trends for SS 2012. With trends that remind me of how a woman in the 20's, 50's, 60's, 80's and 90's would dress. The big fashion ideas you need to know, from the latest print to the new silhouette. The hottest trends and prints for Spring and Summer are The Birds; designers are using these lovely creatures from abstract, graceful lines to three-dimensional birds perched on the chest and shoulders. Pastels; designers gave this season's trends a sense of airiness with the range of pastel tones. The Peplum; it adds a feminine look to your wardrobe. Baroque Flourishes; find it either in the fabric or fine embroidery, they added a touch of the regal. The Drop Waist; designers are modernizing the 1920s style by drawing the line just around the hips. The Deep Sea, designers dived head first into this trend this season with pearlized shell clutches, coral embellishments, and shark-tooth necklaces. Digital Imaging, designers brought our tech-filled lives to the runway this season by using digital photographs. Midsection, whether fully visible or through a window of fabric, flashes of skin revealed tight abs this season. Matte Satin, elegant edgy, sleek, and modern designs are a must with this trend. And last but not least Abstract Art, swaths of solid color and geometric shapes this season, the art world’s twentieth-century geometric abstraction movement made its way to the runways. I love what I've been seeing from designers, how they have made these trends into clothing and accessories. My favorite are The Birds, Pastels, The Peplum, and The Drop Waist. Which trends will you be sporting this summer?

Here is some of my most recent styling work in Tantalum's May issue, not only did the team and myself get a cover. We got THREE! I love everything about this editorial! My wonderful fiance Mike Nguyen was the photographer and came up with this awesome concept for these dresses. As you can see the dresses are dazzling and so detailed. I was fortunate to have Tantalum Magazine interview (click interview to read more) me on how this story came to be. Check out Tantalum Magazine!
